Photo Challenge – Lens-Artists: Waiting

This week Amy has given us the word “waiting” as our prompt.  No one likes to wait but sometimes we are forced to – a doctor’s visit, airline flight, etc.  Per a Timex survey, we spend 20 minutes a day waiting on a bus or train, 32 minutes at a doctor’s office, 28 minutes going through security for a flight and most importantly, waiting 21 minutes for a significant other to get ready.  Luckily that’s not an every day experience.

The shorebirds I watch at Huntington Beach State Park have to be the most patient birds on the planet.  They stay fixed in one position for what seems like an eternity waiting for a fish to go by,

Can you imagine holding this position until you see dinner go by?  My knees, back and neck were hurting as I waited for them to attempt a catch!

Unfortunately, they miss more than they catch so it’s back to the waiting game.

So when I have to wait now, I think of the shorebirds and it doesn’t seem too bad.
