Photo Challenge – Dance

In this week’s challenge, we are asked to share a photo of something that appears like dance and the focus can be on objects, animals, or people.

Black Crowned Night Herons

These herons strutted round and round the tree – intent with their eyes to the ground and never missing a beat.

Photos taken at Brookgreen Gardens.

Photo101 – Warmth & the Quality of Light

Photo 101 – Day 9

Today, we are asked to capture an image of warmth using the sun as our source.

Woman 5

Seated Woman by Leonda Froelich Finke – Brookgreen Gardens

I’ve posted another image of this sculpture before but thought it was worth a second post – her face lifted to the sun captures this challenge perfectly.

Photo101 – Water

Photo 101 – Day 3

Today, we are asked to post a picture of water – how it reminds us of family vacations, outdoor adventures – a place we’ve left behind or a location we dream to go.

I live at the beach so I could pick from numerous beach photos but instead I’ve chosen to post a picture of a beautiful pool at Brookgreen Gardens.  I think it could pass as a Monet!

I post from Brookgreen Gardens often so check out my other posts.  It’s one of my favorite places to go.

Spanish Moss

Spanish Moss

Spanish moss is not a moss at all.

There are several legends as to how the plant got its name.  One story says that the native Indians were unhappy that the Spanish were encroaching on their land.  The natives cut off the long, flowing hair of a woman and draped it over a tree branch to discourage the settlers.  Over time, the hair turned gray, began to shrivel and spread to surrounding trees.

These photos were taken at Brookgreen Gardens.

Putting Things in Prospective

This is one of my favorite pieces in Brookgreen Gardens.  I feel such peace, calm and tranquility in her presence.

Photo Challenge – Time

This week, think about time and portray it photographically.

Muse 12

The Fountain of the Muses by Carl Milles, Brookgreen Gardens

Brookgreen Gardens is a sculpture garden and wildlife preserve located in Murrells Inlet, SC.  It has the largest collection of figurative sculpture by American artists in an outdoor setting.  It is also a nature and historical preserve with a small zoo and exhibition center.

It’s a special place to me and I have been spending a lot of time there capturing the sculpture and grounds.  If you are ever in the area, I hope you’ll visit – I know you’ll love it too.  In the meantime, please follow my site and tag Brookgreen Gardens as I will be posting from there often.

I think the way the camera captured the scene and especially the water reflects this week’s theme of time perfectly.  I hope you agree!
