Photo Challenge – Wildlife Close to Home

Anne’s challenge to us this week is to photograph wildlife close to home.

The Center for Birds of Prey in Awendaw, South Carolina rescues wounded and sick birds of prey. They offer Photography Days several times throughout the year which allows unfettered views of the birds in natural surroundings.

Several years ago, my daughter and I attended and had four hours to photograph the birds and take a tour of the Center.

There were owls….

kestrels,

hawks,

falcons,

and a tawny eagle.

My daughter and I participated in a photography day at SC Center for Birds of Prey this past weekend.  The center provides medical care to injured birds of prey and shorebirds as well as promoting education and research in environmental elements that affect the birds.

Along with about 20 other photographers, we were able to see 15 different birds up close and personal.  The staff were wonderful answering all questions and helping us get that perfect shot…rather lots of shots!  I’ve just started going through them and I’ll post more but I couldn’t wait to get started!
