Photo Challenge: Lens-Artists – Less is More

This week Amy has asked us to share what “less means more” means to us.

Here’s proof that you don’t need a big set or lots of props to have a great photo shoot.

Foggy Beach

Several weeks ago, we had an unusual foggy day.  It covered the beach for most of the day and gave it a very eerie – but still beautiful – quality and provided yet another side of the character of the beach.

Fog on the Beach (2)

The fog did not deter this little bird.  He scurried along the surf looking for his lunch and found several tasty items.

I wasn’t the only one out to enjoy the weather.

Yellow Billed Kite

My daughter and I participated in a photography day at SC Center for Birds of Prey this past weekend.  The center provides medical care to injured birds of prey and shorebirds as well as promoting education and research in environmental elements that affect the birds.

Along with about 20 other photographers, we were able to see 15 different birds up close and personal.  The staff were wonderful answering all questions and helping us get that perfect shot…rather lots of shots!  I’ve just started going through them and I’ll post more but I couldn’t wait to get started!

Photo Challenge – Temporary

This week we are asked to share a photo that says “temporary” to us.

DSC_0773

The roseate spoonbills have been visiting the lowcountry the past few weeks on their way south for the winter.  You can’t miss them – pink feathers with a large, flat, spoon-shaped bill which they use to feed by sweeping their bill back and forth.

The arrival of the spoonbills always creates excitement among all “birders” and the topic of all conversation revolves around the “spoonies”.  The weather’s getting colder so our “temporary” residents will be leaving soon but I think I can say for all that the welcome mat is always out.
