Photo Challenge – Dinnertime
This week, we are asked to share an image inspired by dinnertime.
Dinnertime Fight
Tonight’s main draw is a winner take all fight over the same piece of fish.
In this corner is the smaller but feisty seagull. In the other corner is the larger pelican with a huge beak and wing advantage.
Despite having home court advantage, the seagull lost in a split decision.

Photo Challenge – Life Imitates Art
Artists are inspired by and capture the world around us: sculptors immortalize people with statues; painters record events in their masterpieces. What about the other way around? For this week’s theme, find inspiration in a piece of art, and go further: imitate it.
I did an unexpected photo session with some pelicans and seagulls earlier this week and when scrolling back through my camera, I found myself humming Sittin’ On the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding. So it was an easy decision to go the musical route for this challenge.
(SITTIN’ ON) THE DOCK OF THE BAY
– Written by Otis Redding and Steve Cropper
Sittin’ in the mornin’ sun
I’ll be sittin’ when the evenin’ come
Watching the ships roll in
And then I watch ’em roll away again, yeah
I’m sittin’ on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooo, I’m just sittin’ on the dock of the bay
Wastin’ time
I left my home in Georgia
Headed for the ‘Frisco bay
‘Cause I’ve had nothing to live for
And look like nothin’s gonna come my way
So I’m just gonna sit on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooo, I’m sittin’ on the dock of the bay
Wastin’ time
Look like nothing’s gonna change
Everything still remains the same
I can’t do what ten people tell me to do
So I guess I’ll remain the same, yes
Sittin’ here resting my bones
And this loneliness won’t leave me alone
It’s two thousand miles I roamed
Just to make this dock my home
Now, I’m just gonna sit at the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Oooo-wee, sittin’ on the dock of the bay
Wastin’ time
(whistle)
An Awesome Day
I had an AWESOME day today!
The plan was to take some quick pictures of a beautiful church on the inlet. Quick because it was 42 degrees outside. While taking those photos, these guys showed up with LOTS of their friends and I got TONS of pictures. I think I snapped away for an hour before the cold finally sent me back inside.
